Anita and Idress, Indian Wedding at the Renaissance Woodbridge, New Jersey

August 3, 2013

Anita and Idress had a beautiful multicultural wedding at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel. Anita is Indian and Idrees is Afghan, they ultimately decided to do a Hindu wedding ceremony, and private vow exchange with elements of Idrees’ Afghan culture. For the baraat, or the welcoming of the groom to the marriage hall, they wanted his mode of transportation to be more reflective of his culture so he arrived on a “magic” carpet which was carried by all of his closest friends. They made sure that the baraat included a good mix of current Afghan, Indian, and American music. His whole family danced their way to the ceremony. The decor was reflective of their modern relationship, bright colorful and modern. Anita entered the ceremony with her sister and cousin surrounded by her closest friends. She wore a modern twist on a traditional braid making it a side braid with fresh orchids.  All of the jewelry was given to her by her parents and Idrees’ parents, so it held special meaning to her. After their traditional ceremony, the reception was filled with dancing, music and laughter.  The lighting and decor transitioned into a fabulous evening look including a custom logo bearing the couples name and wedding date. Each table name was a different place that was special to the couple and their relationship. We loved shooting this wedding because we captured two cultures and two families come together, the wedding was full of celebration, color and joy.
