Hudson House Jewish Wedding Photography in Jersey City

Michelle and Max’s wedding at Hudson House was a beautiful example of a modern Jewish wedding that felt deeply personal, relaxed, and full of intention. As a studio with extensive experience in Hudson House Jewish wedding photography, it’s always special to document celebrations that balance meaningful tradition with a contemporary, photojournalistic approach.

Michelle and Max found us through Hudson House itself. We have a long-standing relationship with the venue and are proud to be one of their recommended photography teams. Knowing the flow of the space, the lighting throughout the day, and the best locations for portraits allowed us to work efficiently and quietly, keeping the focus on real moments rather than staged ones.

Getting ready in Jersey City

Michelle began her day getting ready at the Canopy by Hilton in the Jersey City Arts District. The room was filled with soft natural light, which is ideal for candid, documentary-style photography. With hair and makeup completed before our arrival, we focused on finishing touches and genuine interactions with family, the kinds of moments that often become some of the most meaningful images from the day.

Max got ready nearby at the Residence Inn, surrounded by family and friends. These parallel getting-ready moments are an important part of Hudson House Jewish wedding photography, telling the full story of the day as it unfolds from two perspectives. The tone was relaxed and joyful, setting the stage for everything that followed.

First look and portraits at Hudson House

Michelle and Max chose to do a first look at Hudson House, which gave them a quiet moment together before the ceremony and allowed time for portraits without feeling rushed. The waterfront views and clean architectural lines of Hudson House make it an ideal setting for couples who want portraits that feel elevated but natural.

We focused on keeping the experience calm and unforced, letting them interact naturally rather than posing excessively. This approach is especially important for couples who prefer candid, photojournalistic coverage and want their images to feel true to how the day actually felt.

Bridal party and family photos

The bridal party was a mix of siblings and close friends, and we approached these photos with efficiency and flexibility. Smaller groupings and a few full-group shots kept things moving smoothly while still capturing the energy of the people closest to Michelle and Max.

Family photos followed, organized with the help of designated family members who knew everyone well. This allowed us to move quickly through combinations without stress. These moments are always significant at Jewish weddings, bringing together multiple generations and extended family in one place.

Ketubah signing and Bedeken

The ketubah signing took place in the Stork Club, offering an intimate and emotional pause in the day. Shortly after, the bedeken unfolded in the Mezzanine during cocktail hour. This moment was brief but powerful, with the groom surrounded by groomsmen as he approached the bride, placed the veil, and danced out to cheers from family and friends.

These traditions are central to Hudson House Jewish wedding photography, and capturing them fully requires experience, awareness of timing, and the ability to anticipate moments that happen quickly and cannot be repeated.

Ceremony and celebration

The ceremony followed seamlessly, filled with emotion, laughter, and meaningful ritual. Afterward, the reception moved into full celebration mode. Michelle and Max opted for a table run instead of traditional table photos, allowing them to greet every guest efficiently while keeping the energy high.

Throughout the night, our focus remained on candid moments, laughter on the dance floor, quiet exchanges between family members, and the overall atmosphere of the room. Even without stepping outside for sunset portraits, the warmth and energy of the celebration carried the story beautifully.

A note on planning resources

Michelle and Max found us through Hudson House due to our long-standing relationship with the venue, but as someone who has worked in the wedding industry for over 15 years, I’m often asked for recommendations beyond photography. While many of our couples find vendors through venue referrals and personal recommendations, platforms like Zola can also be a helpful planning resource. Zola allows couples to browse venues and vendors by region, style, and budget, making it a useful starting point for anyone building their wedding team. I’m always happy to share personal recommendations as well.
