Winery Destination Wedding Photography
Last year, I traveled to Fiji to shoot Pat and Marley’s beautiful destination wedding. Their dear friends Robbie and Zoe loved the photos so much that they asked me to shoot their wedding in Australia. I was honored and jumped at the chance to go back to Australia for another destination wedding. Robbie and Zoe have been together for many years and have three beautiful children together. This was a special time for the couple and their family, so I made sure to capture plenty of photos with the kids involved too. Preston Peak is a breathtaking winery, located ten minutes from Toowoomba and sitting on 330 acres of land, overlooking the Lockyer Valley. We began the big day with photos of Zoe and her bridesmaids in the gorgeous bridal cottage, which was the perfect space for getting-ready photographs. We then took a few photos of the groom and his groomsmen before the ceremony began. The ceremony took place in the beautiful and serene glass chapel with views of the valley. Cocktails immediately followed outside, so that the guests could enjoy the stunning mountain range scenery. Towards the end of cocktail hour, we captured some bride and groom portraits and bridal party photos, making use of the mountain view as a backdrop, as well as a row of trees covered in fairy lights. We then went into the winery’s main ballroom for the reception, which entailed many speeches as Australian weddings often do – not very much dancing but plenty of drinking and mingling. Preston Peak has a lovely outdoor space with a fire pit and an outdoor dance floor, illuminated by large letters spelling the word “love” and a vintage van serving cocktails. At the end of the evening, cigars and scotch were brought out. This was an amazing wedding with a relaxed and authentic feeling, perfect for this lovely couple.
