A Timeless Jewish Wedding at The Garden City Hotel
There is something truly special about a wedding at The Garden City Hotel. With its elegant ballrooms, luxurious suites, grand staircases, and impeccable service, it has long been one of Long Island’s most sought-after wedding venues. It offers couples the convenience of hosting every part of their wedding day in one beautiful location while providing endless opportunities for stunning photography.
Alyssa and Adam’s wedding was the perfect example of how thoughtful planning creates a seamless, enjoyable wedding day. From getting ready in separate hotel suites to their heartfelt ceremony, lively cocktail hour, and unforgettable reception, every part of the celebration flowed beautifully.
One of our favorite aspects of photographing weddings at The Garden City Hotel is that there are so many wonderful portrait locations both indoors and outdoors. No matter what the weather brings, couples have elegant backdrops available throughout the property, making it an excellent choice year-round.

Wedding Morning Preparations
The day began with both the bride and groom getting ready at The Garden City Hotel, allowing our team to photograph both sides of the wedding simultaneously.
Alyssa spent the morning surrounded by her bridesmaids, mother, mother-in-law, and closest family members in the Franklin Suite. The room was filled with excitement as everyone prepared for the day ahead. We always encourage couples to have hair and makeup completed before photography begins so we can focus on the finishing touches rather than documenting people waiting in styling chairs. This allows us to create relaxed, polished images while also photographing all of the carefully selected wedding details.
The invitation suite, rings, vow books, yarmulkes, bouquet, gown, and accessories were beautifully arranged before we moved on to candid photographs of everyone enjoying the morning together. Some of our favorite getting ready photographs are often the least posed, bridesmaids laughing together, mothers helping with final preparations, and those quiet moments before the excitement of the day truly begins.
One particularly emotional part of the morning was Alyssa’s first look with her father and brother. These intimate family moments often become some of the most treasured photographs in the entire gallery because they capture genuine emotion before the ceremony begins.
Meanwhile, our second photographer spent the morning with Adam and his groomsmen in the Hubbell Suite. Groom preparations often have a much more relaxed atmosphere, with photographs of cufflinks, bow ties, watches, and jackets, along with candid moments shared between lifelong friends and family members. Having both photographers working simultaneously ensures the complete story of the wedding day is preserved from both perspectives.

First Look and Portraits
After the morning preparations, Alyssa and Adam shared a private first look before the ceremony. Whether held outdoors on the hotel grounds or inside the elegant hotel interiors, first looks provide couples with a quiet opportunity to see one another before the excitement of the ceremony begins.
This private time together also allows for many of the formal portraits to be completed before guests arrive, making the rest of the day much more relaxed. We always recommend leaving at least an hour for bride and groom portraits because this gives everyone time to move comfortably between locations without feeling rushed.
The Garden City Hotel offers a wonderful variety of portrait locations. From elegant interior spaces filled with natural light to beautifully maintained outdoor areas, couples are able to enjoy a diverse collection of photographs without needing to travel away from the venue.

Bridal Party and Family Portraits
With eighteen members in the bridal party, organization and planning were essential. Large wedding parties can sometimes feel overwhelming, but creating an organized timeline allows everything to move efficiently while keeping the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.
We photographed individual groups of bridesmaids and groomsmen before bringing everyone together for full bridal party portraits. These images balanced classic posed portraits with more relaxed, candid interactions, creating a gallery that felt both elegant and full of personality.
Family portraits followed immediately afterward. We always encourage couples to prepare a detailed family shot list before the wedding and assign someone who knows everyone’s names and faces to help gather family members. This simple step keeps portraits moving quickly while ensuring every important combination is captured.
The result was a comprehensive collection of family photographs that will undoubtedly become treasured keepsakes for generations.

A Meaningful Ketubah Signing and Ceremony
Before guests arrived, Alyssa and Adam participated in their Ketubah signing, one of the most meaningful traditions of a Jewish wedding. Surrounded by close family and honored witnesses, this intimate ceremony celebrates the couple’s commitment to one another before the formal wedding ceremony begins.
Following the signing, the couple enjoyed a few quiet moments together before the ceremony while our video team completed the final audio and camera preparations.
The ceremony itself was beautiful and heartfelt. Jewish weddings are filled with meaningful traditions that connect generations of family and faith, and we always enjoy documenting the symbolism woven throughout each celebration. From the walk down the aisle to the exchange of vows and the joyful conclusion of the ceremony, every moment reflected the excitement and love shared by Alyssa and Adam and everyone gathered to celebrate with them.

An Elegant Reception Filled with Tradition
As the ballroom doors opened, the celebration officially began.
The evening started with Alyssa and Adam’s grand entrance, followed by their first dance together as husband and wife. The energy in the room immediately grew as family and friends gathered around to celebrate the newlyweds.
One of the highlights of every Jewish wedding reception is the Hora. Watching family and friends surround the couple on the dance floor creates an atmosphere unlike any other celebration. The music, dancing, laughter, and excitement make for incredible photographs filled with genuine emotion and movement.
Following the Hora, guests enjoyed dinner while heartfelt speeches from both fathers reflected on the couple’s journey together. Their words were filled with love, humor, and pride, creating some of the most emotional moments of the evening.
The mother-son dance and father-daughter dance followed, providing another opportunity for meaningful family photographs before Alyssa surprised guests by changing into her after-party dress for the remainder of the evening.
Rather than stopping for traditional table photographs, Alyssa and Adam chose to maximize time celebrating with their guests. This approach allowed our photographers to focus on capturing natural interactions throughout the ballroom instead. We always enjoy this style of coverage because it results in authentic photographs of guests laughing, dancing, talking, and fully enjoying the celebration.
Later in the evening, the couple shared a private cake cutting before returning to the dance floor, where the celebration continued well into the night.
