Getting Ready at The Boro Hotel

The day began at The Boro Hotel, where Kayla and David got ready just floors apart. The space offered a clean, modern setting with soft natural light, ideal for capturing those refined getting ready images.

Kayla’s morning included matching pajama photos with her bridesmaids, along with her moms and grandmother, which added such a personal and joyful layer to the start of the day. We focused on details like her jewelry, invitations, and rings, along with candid moments as everyone prepared.

David’s side had a relaxed, upbeat feel, with his groomsmen already dressed, allowing us to focus on final touches and interactions with his family. These moments always help round out the story in a natural way.

First Look and Portraits at The Bordone

Kayla and David chose to do a first look, which gave them time to connect privately before the day picked up. These moments are always some of the most genuine and emotional, and they set the tone for the rest of the day.

We moved into portraits immediately after, using the clean architecture and surrounding cityscape to create a mix of editorial-style and candid images. Having this time built in allowed us to create a strong foundation of bride and groom photos without feeling rushed later.

Bridal Party and Family Photos

With a close-knit group, this portion of the day felt organized but still relaxed. We captured a mix of classic portraits and more natural, in-between moments that reflected the group’s personality.

Family photos were thoughtfully planned, which made everything run smoothly. This part of the day is always about balance, getting all the important combinations while keeping the couple present and not overwhelmed.

Their Dogs as Part of the Day

One of the most special and unique parts of this wedding was the presence of Kayla and David’s dogs, Waltie and Roy. They are such an important part of their lives, and it was clear how much it meant to have them included.

We made sure to dedicate time to capturing portraits with them, along with some solo shots. These moments added so much personality to the gallery and made the day feel even more personal and complete.

Ceremony with a Skyline View

The ceremony took place at The Bordone with the NYC skyline as the backdrop, one of the most iconic features of this venue. The setting felt both intimate and expansive at the same time.

As guests arrived, the space filled with anticipation, and the ceremony itself was heartfelt and beautifully paced. The clean lines and open views made it an ideal setting for timeless, elegant images.

Cocktail Hour and Guest Experience

Cocktail hour flowed seamlessly, with guests moving between indoor and outdoor spaces and enjoying the views. We focused on capturing candid interactions, the atmosphere, and as many guests as possible.

Instead of traditional table photos later in the evening, Kayla and David chose to greet guests as they entered the reception, capturing photos with each group. This is such a great alternative, it keeps the energy high while still ensuring everyone is documented.

Reception Details and Golden Hour

Before guests entered the reception, we captured the room in its untouched state. The Bordone’s modern aesthetic, combined with thoughtful details, always photographs beautifully.

As sunset approached, we stepped out to the terrace for golden hour portraits. With sunset just after 8pm, the light was soft and flattering, creating some of the most timeless images of the day.

Meaningful, Quiet Moments

Amid the celebration, there was also a quiet, more intimate moment as Kayla and her family stepped out for a private toast in honor of her grandfather. These are the moments that often mean the most, and we always approach them with care, capturing them in a way that feels respectful and unobtrusive.

A Reception Full of Personality

From the moment the reception began, the energy in the room was incredible. With an intimate guest count, the celebration felt full but still very personal.

There were so many standout moments throughout the evening, from heartfelt toasts to spontaneous dance floor moments. One of the most memorable was when “Piano Man” played and a member of the bridal party joined in on harmonica, creating a moment that felt completely unplanned and full of life.

Final Moments

As the night continued, the dance floor stayed active, and the energy carried through to the end of coverage. With outfit changes, dessert, and a full evening of celebration, the day felt complete in every way.
