Getting Ready at Hotel Du Village

The day began with both partners getting ready on-site at Hotel Du Village, which is always a huge advantage for photography. Having everything under one roof allows for a relaxed flow and minimizes travel time, something we always appreciate when working with tighter winter daylight.

The bride got ready in the bridal suite with her closest people around her, while final hair and makeup touches were completed. We focused on clean, natural moments, details like the dress, rings, and invitation suite, and the quiet excitement building in the room. Meanwhile, the groom got ready in the groom’s suite with his brother and groomsmen, keeping things simple and relaxed while capturing natural moments of anticipation.

Hotel Du Village’s interiors lend themselves perfectly to getting ready photos, with soft window light, neutral tones, and elegant furnishings that never distract from the people in the frame.

A Meaningful First Look Indoors

Given the January date and early sunset, the couple opted for an indoor first look, which worked beautifully in this space. The quiet setting allowed them to fully take in the moment together before the ceremony, and the hotel’s classic interiors created a timeless feel that suited the season perfectly.

From there, we captured portraits of the couple, along with photos of the groom and his brother, keeping everything efficient and relaxed. Winter weddings often require thoughtful timing, and this day flowed seamlessly thanks to careful planning and a calm pace.

Bridal Party and Family Photos

With a small bridal party, the focus stayed on meaningful relationships rather than large group logistics. We captured bridal party photos with the maid of honor and best man, along with a few additional groupings of close friends and family who were getting ready with the bride.

Family photos were a major priority, and we took time to photograph a wide range of groupings that spanned multiple generations. From portraits with grandparents to sweet moments with a young family member, these photos were handled with care and intention. Creating balanced, natural-looking family photos is something we place a lot of emphasis on, especially when working with intimate guest counts where every person truly matters.

Ceremony at Hotel Du Village

The ceremony took place on-site at Hotel Du Village, allowing guests to stay warm and comfortable while still enjoying the elegance of the venue. Winter ceremonies often feel especially emotional, and this one was no exception. With fewer distractions and a close-knit group of guests, every moment felt personal and heartfelt.

We focused on capturing candid reactions, quiet glances, and the subtle details that make winter ceremonies so special, from the soft lighting to the intimate layout of the room.

Cocktail Hour and Winter Ambiance

Following the ceremony, guests moved into cocktail hour while we documented the ambiance, food, and the couple mingling with friends and family. Hotel Du Village truly shines during colder months, offering cozy spaces that feel inviting rather than closed-in.

Because sunset happens early in January, we discussed quick outdoor photos immediately following the ceremony. While the sun set just after 5:00 pm, the couple opted to keep things relaxed and enjoy the flow of the evening, a decision that suited the intimate nature of the day perfectly.

Reception and Evening Celebration

The reception felt warm and celebratory without being rushed. With no table photos scheduled, we focused on candid moments, natural interactions, and the overall energy of the room. These are often the images couples treasure most later on, genuine laughter, quiet conversations, and the feeling of being surrounded by the people who matter most.

The evening wrapped up with cake cutting and relaxed dancing, making for a beautiful and unforced conclusion to the day.
